Travel Getaway Review: Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun, Mexico
I went to Cancun the summer of 2019 so this review is long overdue. I loved Cancun, the weather was amazing and there were so many great things to do and of course eat! Here is my review of the all inclusive resort I stayed, and all the extra excursions I did!
The Resort
I stayed at a beautiful all-inclusive resort called Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun, this 4 star hotel felt more like a 5 star hotel. The food was amazing and they had several bars for those who are the legal age to drink in Mexico. Some of the amenities include:
Free Wifi
Free Room Service
Free Buffet
Free Parking
Fitness Center
Full Service Laundry Services
Hot Tubs
Outdoor pools
Swim-up bar (one of my favorites!)
Wheelchair Accessible
Spa (not included in the all-inclusive package
Several Free Dine In-Restaurants
24 Hour Front Desk Service
There is a total of nine restaurants that consists of Mexican, Asian, and Italian! One of my favorite places to eat however was at the Free Buffet, it has a great view of the pool behind these glass walls, and the Italian Restaurant!
In addition, there are so many other services the resort offers such as free events at their theater where they have several performances throughout the week. One of my favorites was their magic show! They also have a kids/teens club where they have video games, and all other sorts of activities.
The Arrival
When I first arrived to the resort I met very friendly hotel workers that had my luggage taken straight to my room right away! The entrance is beautiful, they have any outside fountain, and working escalators leading up to the resort. You are also under this wooden enclosure with a lovely design leading to the top. I was mesmerized by how beautiful this resort was and how nice everyone was!
The check in was a breeze and we were given a room card per person. If you lose your keycard the resort won’t charge you which was a plus because I accidentally dropped my keycard while eating at one of the restaurants. So it was a pleasant surprised to know was no extra charge or fee!

The Room
I stayed in a two bedroom room with a garden view. All the rooms are furnished with a flatscreen tv, coffee maker, glass-enclosed bathroom, and mini fridge. I was fortunate enough to have a balcony in my room where I took some great photos of the view. However not all rooms have a balcony so you just have to get lucky!
Visitors have the option of booking the garden view, ocean side view, or sunset view.
Mexico has been portrayed as dangerous and while I do agree that some areas in the country can be dangerous, however Cancun is safe so don’t be afraid to leave the resort! If you stay within the hotel zone you will be safe!
Going outside of the resort was fun. However be aware that since you are in a new country you must exchange your US dollars for Mexican currency because some places will not accept foreign currency. This is understandable because you’re in a whole new place. It is very easy to exchange your money. You can go to one of the Currency Exchange locations located throughout the hotel zone. If you go to Mexico where you or someone you know, that knows how to speak Spanish, feel free to also ask the locals for directions. I know how to speak Spanish well enough, so I was able to get help by some friendly locals during my visit!
Another option is to ask the hotel! They are there to help you! So if you need to exchange money they will be able to assist you as well!
Traveling Outside the Resort
One of the ways to travel outside of the resort is through public transportation or the taxi services that the hotel offers. Traveling using the taxi service can get a little pricey so using the public transportation is very cost-efficient.
When I left the resort for the first time I took a cab, however I was later able to get back to the resort using the bus route that goes along the hotel zone. It is very easy to use the public transportation. Google Maps will definitely be your best friend! It was super helpful to use and I never got lost using the bus route and google maps.
The bus stop is a very short walk from the resort and it only costs less than a US dollar for the fare! The wait time isn’t too long, I’ve actually waited longer for the bus back home in NYC. Luckily the bus accepts both U.S currency and Pesos, so if you only happen to have U.S money, you won’t run into any issues!
The bus route is very safe as it goes around in a circle throughout the hotel zones. You will actually come across a lot of tourists using the bus route! The view from the bus is great as you’ll be able to see all the other hotels and all kinds of markets!
Things to do Outside the Resort
There are a lot of things to do outside of your resort. The resort offers a variety of activities hosted by Aquaworld.
Aquaworld offers all kinds of cool things to do, here’s a list to name a few!
Aquabounce
Aquatwister
Bob Adventure
Ferry to Conzumel
Flyboard
Private Boat Rental
Skyrider
Snorkling (about 7 locations avialable)
Subsee Explorer
Swimming with Dolphins
Tours to Isla Mujeres
Tours to the Cenotes in Cancun
These activities aren’t included in the all-inclusive package however you can get a great deal through your your trip advisor that the hotel gives you on your first day. Your advisor will be contacting Aquaworld if you want to book activities and they will also be there to provide you can package deal discounts! They will also be in charge of setting the dates and times for you as well!
You can also do things without using Aquaworld which is going to the markets or the mall/shopping centers! The malls are beautiful and most are outdoors with small bridges and fountains!
Aquaworld
Some of the activities that I did under Aquaworld during my stay was the Skyrider and Swimming with Dolphins at Dolpinaris. My advisor was able to get us a deal where we also had access to the indoor water park located at Ventura Park for free. There were a lot of water rides, free entry to food locations, and free unlimited drinks.
At Dolphinaris you will swim with the dolphins for about 40 minutes. They give you kisses and are super friendly! They also have unlimited drinks while you wait for you session to start. The bar tender at the Dolphinaris was named Julian and he made the most amazing drinks. He was super friendly and was able to make drinks for me that weren’t strong. So shout-out to Julian! He made the day even much more enjoyable!

Isla Mujeres
I also went to Isla Mujeres, I did not do the tour with Aquaworld and decided to have my own day there to be able to explore the island more! I was able to get the ferry tickets under my Aquaworld advisor without the tour and had a great time. On the island there are numerous golf cart rental places. So make sure that you get the best deal. on the ferry they will offer golf cart rentals on the spot however it is overpriced so I don’t recommend signing up right away. You should wait for a gold cart rental until you reach the island because there are different establishments with different prices. So always make sure to find the best price!
To rent a golf cart you’ll need a drivers license and be the legal age to drive in Mexico. You will have to leave your license with the establishment and sign a few papers.
Isla Mujeres is a beautiful island and there are several marketplaces, as well as restaurants! I bought a couple of souvenirs and took a lot of pictures!
Be sure to wear lots of sunscreen, buy some bottled water, wear comfortable shoes, and take a pair of sunglasses!

Flea Markets and Shopping Centers
During my stay, I went to La Isla Shopping Village. This shopping center is an open-air shopping complex with multiple stores, restaurants, and even a ferris wheel! I bought some Mexican candy which I love, and I also explored around the area. The complex is along the hotel zone and the bus leaves you right by the shopping center.
Also around the area are a lot of markets where you can get some great deals! If you stay on the bus for a few more stops you’ll run into a whole bunch of markets and a currency exchange location if you need to convert your U.S dollars to Pesos. Most of these marketplaces bump up their price when it comes to tourists so always try to negotiate the price. it also helps to know Spanish as the vendors will be more inclined to make a better deal with you. Also be aware that these vendors don’t take U.S dollars so having Pesos will come in handy!
I went to a market called “Flea Market Coral Negro” where I found a lot of cool deals! Be aware that many people will try to come up to you and try to make a sale constantly. However this didn’t bother me at all! If you happen to come across a similar situation, don’t be too alarmed and you can kindly decline their offers/invitations. They are all nice people!
There are all kinds of popular marketplaces along the area, so there are a lot of options to choose from!

Things to do at the Resort
Going outside the resort can be very tiring, so taking a day to relax at the resort can also be fun! You can always kick back and enjoy the beach! Fiesta Americana Condesa offers all kinds of events at the hotel. They have many events you can do during the morning, afternoon, or evening! They offer meditation/yoga mornings sometimes, and shows at their theater. Such as magic shows, musical shows, and dancing performances! As well as silent discos at the main lounge area in the hotel! They have also done dancing performances with mariachis at the pool area which was amazing!
There is never a boring time at the resort!

Overall this resort was great! The staff was friendly, the rooms were always clean! The food is delicious and they have so many great things to offer! If you book your next trip here, you will definitely have a great time at Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun!
