Dress to Impress: Spring 2020 Outfit Essentials

Spring is here! So we can say good bye to the chilly weather and say hello to sunnier skies!

I love this time of year where we finally can come out the house and not have a thousand layers on. So here are some spring essentials in order to spice up your outfits and change it up!

1. Floral Print

I love anything with florals and bright colors on them. During the winter most of my wardrobe consisted of dark colors so its great to finally use a pop of color and have people actually see it rather than my huge black coat over my outfit. I love wearing floral print with some mom jeans and basic white sneakers.

Floral print is one of my favorite spring essentials because its perfect for an everyday outfit if you aren’t trying to go over the top, plus its also great for work if your job is casual attire friendly.

2. Mom Jeans

Now I know everyone and their grandma is out here rocking the mom jean trend. Mom jeans aren’t particularly just for the spring since its definitely a closet essential, for fall and winter. But I still think it’s relevant for spring. Having pair of mom jeans sculpts your body really well and enhances all your features. Some of my favorite brands include BDG at Urban Outfitters or Madewell. Now I know Urban Outfitters and Madewell tend to be very expensive however, you can find ways you can shop your favorite brands for a great bargain! I talk more about this on “How to Shop for Cute Fashion on a Low Budget.”

3. Scrunchies

I’ve been loving some aspects of the VSCO trend. My favorite spring essential are scrunchies!

I actually don’t tie my hair up very frequently but that hasn’t stopped me from buying a million scrunchies to wear on my wrists as an outfit piece. Usually when I’m wearing a basic outfit, I like to wear a scrunchie on my wrists for a pop of color.

My favorite ones so far are the, “Days Of The Week Scrunchie Set” at Urban Outfitters they retail for $12 for a set (includes 5 scrunchies) which is pretty expensive in my opinion. I actually ended up buying these on sale for $8. It’s still pretty pricey for only 5 of them but it’s still much better than paying $12. I got this in the “Red Floral Multi” color set and I’ve been loving the white with pink flowers, and I’ve gotten lots of compliments on these.

4. Tote bags

I love tote bags and it works great as a last minute outfit accessory! I recently just got one for free from the New Yorker when I signed up for their 3 month subscription. I’m a native New Yorker so I’ll definitely be rocking the tote bag throughout spring and summer!

4. Rattan Crossbody Bags

Another cute spring essential are rattan bags. These bags are great if you want to achieve a bright boho style. These are also perfect for spring and summer for a long-day adventure or a vacation getaway. The one I currently own is from Urban Outfitters, however you can also find these kind of bags at Free People and Madewell.

5. Oversized Sunglasses

Sunglasses are a great way to pull an outfit together while at the same time protecting your eyes. Instead of purchasing regular dark sunglasses, try out some trendy round sunglasses. I think round glasses can help bring your outfit together and is definitely another spring essential.

I got my current ones from a thrift shop in Brooklyn. I love them because they’re a pink ombre and I got them for about $15!

6. Light Jacket

Sometimes there are chillier days than others. That’s why you should have a go-to light jacket during the spring. This can be any jacket of your choice, such as a denim jacket, anorak, or even a windbreaker jacket. It’ll help you keep dry during rainy days and it’ll be easy to take off if you get too hot throughout the day.

7. Rain Boots

We tend to see more rain showers throughout the spring so having a pair of boots subtable for the rain is a spring essential must. Definitely go with a classic pair of black or navy rain boots if you want a color that is easy to style.

These are some of my spring essentials! What are yours? Leave them down in the comments below!
