How to Shop for Cute Fashion on a Low Budget Online
I love online shopping, you can say that I have an issue with constantly wanting to buy new pieces to wear. There have been times where I’ve seen something I want but it’s either sold out or it’s out of my budget.
Did you know that there is a way for you top shop online with a budget, for your favorite brands for a low and affordable price? I’ve been able to shop on a low budget online and save myself hundreds of dollars by doing this!
Websites like Poshmark, Depop, and Meracri can be described as an online thrift shop. You’ll be able to shop for any sold-out items and any new items while still staying within your low budget.
If you haven’t heard about neither of these platforms then this is the post for you!
But if you have heard of these, and you still aren’t sure if you should hop on one of these, then this post is also for you too!
I’ll be going into the details of each one and do a mini haul to show some of the great gems I’ve found and for super cheap as well!
Poshmark
This platform can be considered as a leader in the marketplace. I’ve been using Poshmark since 2015 and have been able to see how much they’ve improved and grown over the years.
Their website is mobile and desktop friendly and they have a bunch of brands to choose from. You can filter your size and you can like certain people’s posts and the app will keep a list of all your likes!
Many of the sellers on Poshmark are just regular people looking to sell an item they can no longer return or items that they don’t wear anymore. Sellers can send special offers where you can be able to purchase the item you liked at an even cheaper price with discounted shipping included. Or you can use Poshmark’s “make an offer” button and wait for a response from the seller.
Depop
Similarly to Poshmark, Depop is another platform where sellers can sell new or gently used items.
The difference between them is Depop has an in-app messaging feature where you can speak to the seller which is great for a smoother form of communication. Unfortunately, Depop doesn’t have an “offer button” built into their site, however it is easily resolved by the in app messaging feature because you can contact the seller and ask if they’re open to offers.
Mercari
I first stumbled on Mercari a few years ago but I didn’t enjoy their app layout.
However recently this year, I decided to download the app again and give it another try. I still believe they could make improvements, but overall the platform is an efficient way to shop for great prices.
Mercari has both in-app messaging and an offer button, so you get the best of both worlds. Plus some items on Poshmark and Depop can be found by the same seller for a cheaper price on Mercari. This is due to the fact that Meracri currently only takes a 10% fee from the seller’s earnings. Unlike Poshmark where they take 20% of the sale, and Depop where they also take 10% but on top of that you also get hit with a 2.9% + $0.30 fee (in the U.S) from Paypal as well.
Here are some of the great items I’ve bought across all three platforms for less than retail price in new or gently used condition!
Note: The total price includes the seller’s listing price + the shipping cost all together.
